His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio

President of the Republic of Sierra Leone

The High Commission of Sierra Leone in the Republic of Kenya has the pleasure and honour to welcome you to its official website. The current High Commissioner, Her Excellency Madam Isatu Bundu, presented her Letters of Credence to the President of the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta, on 9 June 2021. She is also accredited to the Republics of Angola, Burundi, Malawi, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.

The High Commission started operations in Nairobi in September 2018. Prior to this, an Honorary Consulate headed by Mr. Fuad Sasso performed consular functions on behalf of Sierra Leone from 1999 until it was upgraded to a Consulate-General in 2007. The first High Commissioner, the late Mr. Peter Francis, assumed duty in October 2018 until his demise in December 2020.

Sierra Leone and Kenya, as members of the Commonwealth, have historically enjoyed excellent bilateral relations which have not only endured throughout since their Independence but have grown exponentially into a multifaceted and mutually beneficial partnership. The bilateral ties between the two countries are now poised to attain even greater heights, deriving from the warm personal relations between the two Heads of State and also from the New Direction Agenda of the Government of President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone.

Additionally, the High Commission is accredited to the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), United Nations Human Settlement Programme (UN-Habitat) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

Her Excellency Madam Isatu Bundu brings to her new role as the High Commissioner of Sierra Leone an enviable culture of merit, efficiency and effectiveness coupled with a huge reservoir of expertise and experience as well as youthful energy and enthusiasm gained from her previous engagements in both the public and private sectors of governance in the United Kingdom, where she studied and attained a Master’s Degree in International Relations.

H.E. Ms. Isatu Aminata Bundu

High Commissioner to the Republic of Kenya and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Sierra Leone to the UNON, UNEP & UN-Habitat
